Alberta Grasslands: A World at Your Feet: Kit

This resource kit illustrates vegetation and wildlife found on Alberta’s Prairie and explains how human impact has affected and fragmented grasslands. The intent of the kit is to provide resource material focused at increasing students’ awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the native grassland ecosystem of Alberta. Students will be introduced to the history, biology, geography and even the economics of the grasslands. They will discover the diversity and value of life provided by our grasslands.

A manual discussing the impact of pipeline construction on agricultural land, including land with potential for agriculture. Five common soil handling procedures for conservation of agricultural lands during pipeline construction are discussed in terms of their relative effectiveness for different soil types.

Southern Alberta Landscapes: Meeting the Challenges Ahead: Regional Economic Overview and Outlook for Southern Alberta

This report was compiled to describe the overall sectoral characteristics and trends in economic activity in southern Alberta, to identify key drivers that may determine the future direction of the economy, and to give a general description of the types of environmental impacts that might be expected as a result of economic development in key sectors. Data included in this report were collected through a document and literature review and through interviews with social and environmental scientists, economists, industry representatives, and government officials.
