Propane tanks ready to be disposed of require proper handling. Many Household Hazardous Waste collection centres accept propane tanks. "Toxic Round-ups” are held in many communities throughout the year and many accept propane tanks.. Find out when a Round-up is scheduled in your area by visiting Alberta Environment's Round-up Schedule. If your community does not have a scheduled Round-up, consider neighbouring communities or contact your municipality, local fire station, or local landfill for information on household hazardous waste (HHW) drop-off depots. The cities of Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge have permanent household hazardous waste drop-off facilities. The City of Calgary accepts HHW at specific local fire stations. For industry and commercially generated propane tanks, (including campgrounds), there are recycling companies that specifically recycle propane tanks, and often local metal recyclers will properly recycle them. Find recyclers in your area by checking the Yellow Pages under “Recycling”. |
