Current air quality data is available in real time from Alberta Environment's website or call the Alberta Environment Air Quality Index Reporting System at 1-877-247-7333 (or 780-427-7273). Historical air quality data is archived at the Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA) Data Warehouse. These web sites contain data from over 50 air monitoring stations operated by Airshed Zones and Alberta Environment located throughout the province. In addition, data collected by industry, as required by their respective approvals, is available as hardcopy reports from the facility/company or from Alberta Environment. Which type of ambient air monitoring reporting is mandatory? Industries with significant air emissions in Alberta are required to monitor air quality downwind of their respective facilities. Many industries in Alberta are required to monitor air quality as an approval requirement. In Alberta, there are about 80 ambient monitoring stations operated by industries. Data from these monitoring stations are provided to Alberta Environment in hardcopy reports on a monthly and annual basis. These requirements are set out in industry approvals. Industries that are members of airshed zone alliances are also required to monitor air quality in partnership with other stakeholders in the airshed zone. Air monitoring must be conducted in accordance with the Air Monitoring Directive. What air monitoring reports are available for industrial practices? In Alberta, any regulated industrial air monitoring reporting, (i.e. required by an approval through the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act - EPEA), is publicly available information and usually obtainable by request through the facility/company or from Alberta Environment.
