Celebrate Environment Week, June 3 - June 9, 2007

Environment Week celebrates Alberta's environment. It is a great time to learn more about what you can do to help preserve and protect our environment. Your action counts! Participating in local Environment Week events is a great way to discover easy things you can do for the environment. The choices you make - big and small - really do make a difference.

Alberta’s Environment Week Theme: Wetlands

Did you know wetlands are as productive as tropical rain forests?

They are among the most fertile, complex, and productive ecosystems on earth. Wetlands are extremely important for storing water, lessening the impact of flooding and filtering contaminants out of our environment. And much more!

Approximately 64% of wetlands in the south and central parts of Alberta have been lost, but we can make a difference. There are ways we can work together to renew and restore our wetlands – spread the word, wetlands count!

Environment Week 2007 is a great time to start taking action for the health of Alberta's wetlands:
